Your first work order

New to Jobyo? This walkthrough takes you from signing in to creating, carrying out, and closing your first work order โ€” the core loop you'll repeat every day.

The everyday loopโ€‹

Most field work in Jobyo follows the same short cycle: a job is planned as a task, a work order turns it into tracked on-site work, you log your time and materials as you go, and you close it when it's done โ€” which is what makes it billable.

  1. Sign in and find your work

Sign in and open your dashboard. As a technician you land on My Schedule, which shows only the tasks assigned to you โ€” you never have to filter for "my work". Tap a task to see the job: the worksite, what needs doing, and the materials planned for it.

  2. Start the work order

From an assigned task, start (or open) its work order โ€” the tracked unit of on-site work. If a coordinator already created one, open it from the task; otherwise create one from the task's Create work order action. The work order is where time, materials, and photos are recorded.

  3. Check in and record your time

On site, check in to start your timesheet so your hours are captured accurately, and check out when you leave. You can also add time entries against the work order directly. See Timesheets & check-in.

  4. Add materials and photos

Record the materials you used and attach photos as evidence of the work โ€” before/after shots, serial numbers, the finished install. Photos and files live on the work order and (for a project) in its Photos tab.

  5. Close it out

When the job is done, close the work order. Closing completes the underlying task and derives the work order's billing status โ€” that's what lets the office invoice the work. If something still needs doing, leave a note or a follow-up in the job feed instead of closing.

Your screen depends on your role

Technicians see My Schedule and their own work orders; coordinators and admins see the full workspace, billing, and reporting. If a button or page in this guide isn't there for you, it's a role difference โ€” see Roles & what you can see.
